
Scholars at Risk (SAR) Receives Courage of Conviction Award
On March 5, 2025, SAR was honored with the Courage of Conviction Award from the University of Iowa Center for Human Rights (UICHR) for its advocacy in promoting academic freedom, monitoring attacks on higher education, and supporting student advocacy campaigns.
Highlighting Student Advocacy
The award recognized SAR’s Student Advocacy Seminars, which empower students to advocate for wrongfully imprisoned scholars. Over the past year, 500+ students across 20+ seminars participated in campaigns for scholars like Dr. Ahmadreza Djalali and Dr. Abdul Jalil Al-Singace.
Webinar on Academic Freedom in North America
SAR and the International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU) will host a webinar, "The Current State of Academic Freedom in North America," on March 12, 2025. The session will explore key trends, coalition impacts, and how individuals and institutions can support academic freedom.
