MSCA4Ukraine: 2024 Call for Applications MSCA4Ukraine, an EU-funded fellowship scheme for displaced researchers from Ukraine will shortly open a new call. With a recent top-up of 10 million euro from the European Commission, the scheme will support around 50 additional researchers displaced from Ukraine by means of fellowships of up to two years and other supports. Comprehensive information on the second call for proposals, including all relevant documents, is now available on the SAR Europe website. A launch event took place on 14 June 2024 and two further information sessions are planned for 20 and 24 June 2024. Deadline: 5 September 2024. |

Fragile Freedom – Dialogue with displaced researchers In a series of five public events across Germany, Philipp Schwartz Fellows will discuss the curtailing and loss of freedom from a personal and professional perspective. Aimed at the general public, the event series will contribute to a debate about the fragility of civil liberties and academic freedom. It will start on 13 June 2024 at Ruhr University Bochumwith the Philipp Schwartz Fellow Vasil Navumau from Belarus, whose research focuses on socio-political transformation, digital government and democratic communication between civil society and government. The Fragile Freedom series of events is being conducted by the science communication agency con gressa in collaboration with the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. It is being financed by Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research as part of Science Year 2024 – Freedom. The discussions will additionally be produced and released as live podcasts. PAUSE Welcome Handbooks for researchers at risk and host institutions The French hosting programme for scientists and artists in exile has updated in April 2024 its’ welcome handbooks for researchers at risk and their host institutions. The welcome handbook for researchers contains useful information and resources for scientists in exile wishing to obtain- and those who already benefit- from the support of the PAUSE programme. It contains all the essential information, from administrative procedures on arrival in France, to the integration into the host institution. The Handbook is also available in English for non-French speakers. The handbook for host institutions contains useful information and resources for scientists hosted in French institutions, from submitting an application to the PAUSE programme, to supporting their professional integration at the end of the PAUSE contract. |
